Oboo Building Blocks Stack Into Serving Trays For Creative Food Presentations

oboo-1

When you first see the Oboo, you’re likely to mistake it for children’s building blocks, being a collection of oddly-shaped wooden pieces that you can stack together to form different structures. Except, it’s actually a serving plate that you can stack in different configurations, allowing you to present dishes in fresh, unusual ways.

Designed by Valencia-based Totpoc, it’s a set of eight different geometric shapes that can be stacked on top of each other.   They come in different sizes, allowing you to vary your serving assemblies each and every time out, ensuring you’ll always have an interesting way to present your meals, whether you’re serving cheese and crackers for a couple at breakfast, chocolates for a small party, or kabobs for family dinner.

Only two of the eight Oboo pieces are actually meant to serve as serving dishes, with the others meant to act as connecting joints for setting the assembly at different heights. To ensure the structures don’t fall down after you pile on food that’s on the heavy side, each of the plates have a hole at the bottom, with the connectors sporting holes that go through and through. A set of sticks serve as joints to connect the pieces together, strengthening the structure to ensure they’ll withstand both the weight of the food, as well as the bustle of activity in the dinner table.

Oboo was presented as part of the Diseno al Plato exhibition during the 2015 Milan Design Week. You can learn more about it from Totpoc’s website.
