20 Coarseness Levels Make Handground The Most Precise Home Coffee Grinder You Can Buy

Coffee lovers with a controlling streak, rejoice – someone just made a coffee grinder that does more than offer two settings. Not three, not four, and not five, either. Instead, the Handground will offer a whopping 20 settings between coarse and fine, each one adjusting the burr mill by a mere 125 micrometers.

Designed for precision grinding, it lets you experiment with the kinds of flavors and aromatics you can derive out of every ounce of coffee bean you granulate, giving you the chance to unleash your favorite beans’ true potential. Whether you prefer Arabica, Robusta, or a very specific type of bean from a very specific region of the world that is made with a very specific roast (hey, if you’re this precision-crazy about your grinder, we won’t be surprised), this should help.

Handground is a countertop grinder with a 100-gram hopper capacity that should be good for brewing up to five cups of coffee. It uses a focus ring-inspired control facility for setting the ground, making it easy and intuitive to find your desired coarseness level, with 38 mm conical burrs constructed from high-strength, wear-resistant, and corrosion-resistant Alumina ceramic. Features include a triple-mounted stainless steel axle to eliminate wobble, a locking top to keep the beans from jumping out during grinding, a borosilicate glass catcher to prevent sticky grounds, and a wide base for improved stability. It comes with a side-mounted wooden handle to promote better ergonomics during use.

A Kickstarter campaign is currently running to fund Handground. Pledges to reserve a unit starts at $49.
