This Fave Knife Could Soon Be Your Favorite Knife

Will the Fave Knife become your fave knife? That’s what its creators are hoping for.

Designed to be a go-to utility knife, it’s built to be as comfortable cutting through ropes as it will slice through vegetables in the kitchen counter. That way, you can use it for much any job in the house, whether you’re preparing a meal for dinner guests, slicing a parcel open, or chopping off a cord in the workshop for a project you’re building.

Fave Knife will launch with two initial models: one with a 3-inch blade and another with a 4-incher. Both are made from full tang, high-carbon 420 stainless steel, each one crafted by R. Murphy Knives, one of only six 1800s-era cutlery-makers still around to this day, with their handles cut in reclaimed hardwood. With their short blades, both knives are designed for smaller tasks where fine blade control matters, so they’re not exactly what you’ll be reaching for when chopping up a hunk of pork belly into smaller slices.

Each knife comes with a hand-crafted, full-grain leather guard, so you can take it with you, fully sheathed, for use on the go. It’s small enough to be dropped into a pants pocket or a backpack pouch, too, so you can take it along during outdoor excursions for use in various cutting jobs around camp.

A Kickstarter campaign is currently running for Fave Knife. Pledges to reserve a unit starts at $55.
